Voorafgaand aan de publicatie van de Cultural Formulation of Diagnosis in DSM-IV in 1994 en daarna zijn buiten Nederland verschillende vragenlijsten en handreikingen ontwikkeld die tot doel hebben gericht informatie te verkrijgen over de culturele identiteit en culturele ziekteverklaringen van de patiënt. De belangrijkste worden hieronder genoemd.
